• Encaustic Workshop



    Jane Wells Harrison Encaustic Workshop
    April 20, 21 and 22, 2017
    Tuition: $225 per student

    Offering a compact, three-day workshop all about using encaustic paint to create lustrous and layered works of art. This workshop is suitable for all levels. We will cover studio requirements, safe practices, paint and medium characteristics and behavior, tools, and various methods. Working on wood, we will explore the use of applied texture, collage, incising techniques. We will discuss compatible media, which can be used with encaustic to include most water based media and oil paint. In addition to tuition, there will be a supply fee estimated at $50-75 per student to cover instructor-supplied consumables. A student supply list will be provided to those registered. The class will make with a minimum of five students; there is space for eight students. Class will be held at the Wiese Dorm Studio, Patterson School.
